FromWikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The hill-start assist is a variant of hill-holder used by some semi-automatic, clutchless transmissions. The system prevents the car from rolling away when trying to pull away on an up or down gradient, simulating a "handbrake hill start" manual drivers will be familiar with.

Inmy previous 6 spd manual jk, I've found hill start assist is a great feature offroad for the extra security/piece of mind. But realistically, these things make enough torque in 1st gear and low range that you could easily just slowly let out the clutch without giving it any throttle to get moving.

KHP· #2 · Jan 12, 2011 (Edited) There's no way to disable it (atleast that I know off), but I found a work around if you're on the hill leave the car in neutral. let the brake go while swiftly shifting to first and off you go. Hill assist only works when the car is engaged in gear and you let the brakes off.
